Neolithic/Bronze Age Incised Stones

Hi, I'm doing some private archaeological research into incised stones I have found on my property. I don't like the term "rock art" because I feel that this makes certain assumptions about the function of the marks. I am hoping to share some of my discoveries on this website and would be interested in feedback. Initially, my findings draw me towards a comparison with an apparently very controversial author, namely Marija Gimbutas. Whenever I mention her name to archaeologists in "conventional" circles, there is always great suckings of teeth! Does anyone have any opinions on her work and conclusions? Why are so many archaeologists apparently so afraid of her findings? Her arguments seem so persuasive.
