Great North Of Scotland Railway (GNoSR) / London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) - Some Banff & Buchan railway dates:

1845 - The Great North of Scotland Railway company was formed.

1846 - 26th June, the Great North of Scotland Railway company was given parliamentary approval.

1857 - 5th September, the Turriff Railway line from Inveramsay opened. 

1859 - 2nd August, the Banff, Portsoy and Strathisla Railway was opened terminating at Banff Links.

1860 - 4th June, the Banff and Macduff line opened, and the Banff and Macduff Station 3/4 mile from the town opened.

1860 - 31st March,  Banff Harbour Railway Station opened. 

1861 - The Dyce to Mintlaw line opened. 

1862 - The Mintlaw to Peterhead line opened. 

1863 - Maud was made the main junction. 

1863 - The Banff, Portsoy and Strathisla Railway was taken over by the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNoSR).

1865 - The Maud to Fraserburgh line opened.   

1872 - 1st July, the first Macduff and Banff Railway Station of 1860 was closed, it was replaced by the new Macduff Station sited nearer the town due west of the parish church.

1884 - 1st April, the first Portsoy Railway Station was closed. 

1897 - The Ellon to Boddam line was opened. 

1903 - The St Combs line opened. 

1913 - Banff Golf Club House halt was opened.

1915 - The Lenabo line was established.

1915 - An electric railway line from Turriff to Maud was proposed, but was never realised.

1923 - The Great North of Scotland Railway (GNoSR) was suceeded by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER).

1932 - The Boddam line  closed.

1948 - The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) was nationalised and became British Railways.

1951 - 1st October, Macduff Railway Station was closed to passengers, but remained open to freight.

1951 - 1st October, Banff Bridge Railway Station was closed to passengers.

1961 - The Macduff line closed.

1964 - 6th July, Banff (Harbour) Railway Station and the Golf Club Hose Halt were closed to passengers.

1964 - 6th July, Ladysbridge Halt was closed.

1965 - 3rd May, the St Combs line closed to passengers.

1965 - 4th October, the Fraserburgh line closed to passengers.

1968 - 6th May, Cullen Railway Station closed.

1968 - 6th May, Portsoy Railway Station closed.

1968 - 6th May, Cornhill Railway Station closed.

1979 - 3rd October, the Fraserburgh line closed to freight.

1980 - Banff Harbour Railway Station was demolished.
