This page was initially set up in 2009 so that you could assist with the History of Fraserburgh (The Broch).  Author Stanley Bruce has now completed his research for his large history book with the title 'Fraserburgh Through the Years - An Illustrated History of The Broch'.

Lady Saltoun read the manuscript and "Enjoyed it very much", and she has also kindly written the preface to the book.

At the outset a competition was organised for the three who helped the most, and the top three helpers are

Dot and Robbie Stephen, Australia - for their help with some old photographs and information.

Marie Fraser, Canada - For her help with Fraser genealogy.

George Moir, Fraserburgh - For his help with Tyrie.

All three will receive a mention in the acknowledgements section of the book and a free signed copy of the book.  I never envisaged that copies of the book would be sent to Australia (the other side of the world) and Canada, however it goes to show there are Brochers or descendents of Brochers all over the world, not just 25 mile away in Banff!

The book is now finished, and has been produced as a quality pefect bound edition with 136 A4 pages, more than 53,000 words, and approximately 330 photographs or illustrations.  Price £12 ($18 US dollars).

The books have all now been bound in Edinburgh.  Since John Trails bookshop was destroyed in a fire, copies are available at Stephen's the newsagent in High Street, Fraserburgh, and the Lighthouse Museum shop.

The book includes Fraserburgh and a five mile radius of the surrounding district, and also some items of historical importance within an eight to ten mile radius.

Stanley can be contacted by e-mail at bardofthebroch@yahoo.com .

The book was launched at the 18th Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally on Sunday the 6th June, and Stanley was present signing books.  A donation of £1.00 per book sold was given to the Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally in support of their annual charity, which this year is Huntington's Disease.

Fraserburgh Vintage Rally has grown tremendously since it was established, and today it is Fraserburgh's biggest annual event, so don't miss it!
