History in Grampian

The North East of Scotland is rich in prehistorical sites and although it is well north of the Antonine Wall it had a Roman presence for a time. It may even have been the location for the mysterious disapearance of the Ninth Legion - the "Lost Legion".

Robert the Bruce campaigned in the area. As well as fighting the English he also had to subdue many local lords in Grampian.

Look around any of its villages or towns and you can't help but find traces of our history, ancient and more modern, at every turn.

Enjoy the pages here and if you have an interest in your local history, or any historical subject, then why not start up your own Web Historian site.
